Danhson is leading international group with operations in Bulgaria, the Balkans, CIS countries and Asia, specialised in manufacturing, marketing and sales of pharmaceutical products, food supplements and cosmetics. The company invests millions of dollars in the new production sites, warehouses and R&D laboratories.  

Challenges and solutions

As customer’s business grew at a high pace, Danhson aimed to modernize its ERP landscape by transitioning from Microsoft Dynamics NAV to Dynamics 365 Business Central.

The project objectives included: 

• Migrating 4 distinct legal entities (procurement, production, local distribution, and export) to a unified Business Central environment. 
  
• Retaining and adapting numerous legacy customizations. 
  
• Meeting strict industry standards (GMP) and local legal requirements. 
  
• Enabling streamlined planning and financial transparency across the entire supply chain. 
  
• Laying the foundation for further rollouts in other countries. 
  

Awara IT upgraded Danhson's system to Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central with Bulgarian localization within 5 months, delivering: 

• Migration to Business Central with the full transfer of customizations from NAV. 
  
• Implementation of regenerative planning and MRP tailored to pharma manufacturing specifics. 
  
• Automation of intercompany supply chain planning, connecting demand from distribution entities, production in a central plant, and procurement in a third company. 
  
• Development and rollout of a multi-level master data management (MDM) module with centralized, country-level, and company-level governance. 
  
• Full deployment of quality management, manufacturing, and warehouse processes in accordance with GMP standards. 
  
• Two-way integration with a WMS system. 
  
• Automation of pharma-specific distribution processes for the Bulgarian market, including: 
  
• Integration with SESPA (national pharma platform), 
  
• Support for government tenders and reference pricing, 
  
• Local accounting and tax compliance through partner-led localization. 
  
• Introduction of a centralized procurement request and supplier tendering system. 
  
• Automation of intercompany financial transactions. 
  
• Implementation of a flexible financial analytics and reporting system. 
  

Results

All 4 companies of the Danhson Group successfully transitioned to Business Central within the planned timeframe.

The successful Bulgarian rollout sets the stage for further global expansion, with planned implementations in Vietnam and Kazakhstan, and the deployment of group-level financial consolidation and Power BI reporting.
