If you're running a business with teams in Kazakhstan, Cyprus, Finland, and Spain (or anywhere in between) you know the challenges. Your country managers need to see financial data, global team needs access to all current operations, local managers need to meet their KPIs and stay in the loop.
But until recently, giving them that visibility meant that every team member would work with Dynamics 365 Business Central license at roughly 70-100 Euro per user, per month. For a growing international SMB with 50-100 employees across multiple countries only license costs becomes a solid amount. Many companies restricted access. In a way it did save money, but at the same time the issue of transparency became even more serious as data stayed siloed, country managers worked in Excel.
Now your existing Microsoft 365 licenses provide full read-only access to Dynamics 365 Business Central.
Here's what that means for your business:
When a Microsoft 365 user accesses Business Central through Teams, the system automatically:
- Authenticates them via their existing Microsoft 365 credentials
- Grants read-only access at the database level (they literally cannot write data)
- Surfaces only the records and dashboards you've explicitly shared with them
The requirement: You need at least 1 full Dynamics 365 Business Central online in your tenant to "activate" this capability. Microsoft 365 license is perfectly sufficient.
Which Microsoft 365 plans qualify
- Microsoft 365 Business: Basic, Standard, Premium
- Microsoft 365 Enterprise: E3, E5, F1, F3
- Office 365 Enterprise: E1, E2, E3, E5, F2, F3
- Microsoft Teams: Essentials, EEA
If your international team members already have any of these, they're already equipped.
