About customer
JSC "Alatau Zharyk Company" (part of the Samruk-Energy Group) is the largest power grid operator in southern Kazakhstan, supplying electricity to residents of Almaty and Almaty Region, industrial enterprises, agricultural facilities, and government institutions. The company is committed to reliable, uninterrupted power supply and strengthening the region's energy stability.Challenges and solutions
Prior to the project launch, all processes were manual and non-digital. Work on power lines and electrical substations was performed using paper-based work permits (work orders).
During maintenance days, extensive paperwork was required:
-
A supervisor fills out a paper work permit.
-
A dispatcher registers it in a paper logbook.
-
The permit is then handed over to a senior electrician and later to the crew.
-
A safety briefing is conducted on-site and recorded on video.
-
All crew members sign the work permit to confirm the briefing.
-
After completing the work, the entire crew signs the permit again.
-
For unscheduled emergency repairs, additional permits are issued for different tasks.
-
All documents are prepared in two copies (or three if communication is unavailable).
Key Risks of Paper-Based Processes:
-
Crews may run out of blank work permit forms during emergency repairs.
-
Potential loss of paper documents.
-
Illegible handwriting of employees.
-
Untidy document appearance.
The optimal solution to these challenges was process digitalization.
Results
-
Develop a mobile application with digital work permit signing functionality.
-
Ensure offline operation capability for field use.
-
Conduct a pilot test at Distribution Zone No. 6 (two crews of 8 people each).
The project aims to eliminate paperwork inefficiencies, reduce risks, and enhance operational safety through digital transformation.
