Enapter, founded in 2019 based in Germany, makes low-cost electrolyzers, the machines used to make hydrogen. In 2021, the company started construction on the world’s first automated mass-production facility for the equipment. Since that the business is growing remarkably: in H1 2021 it booked more than 10 times more orders for the electrolyzers vs the previous 6 months period. In 2021 the Company grew its staff up to 165 employees and the number of Customers up to 140 companies from 36 countries. Turnover in 2022 increased by 75 % to 14.7 million euros. Order book offers high visibility for 2023 and beyond.Challenges and solutions
The costs effective manufacture should manage production cycle end to end in a modern optimal way. There was an ERP system - SAP - Enapter leveraged at its Italian premises but was not quite satisfied with that. The German production plant was yet planned to be built. So there was a huge need identified to choose the best flexible ERP system that could help Enapter business to grow rapidly and meet the ambitious goals.Solution assessment was carried out to conduct a set of actions with Customers in a 1:1 format: For solution implementation to ensure the effective planning, production continuity, communication & security, To assess options and implications for enabling remote work scenarios, developing joint deployment plans and subsequent maintenance, To demonstrate functionality of custom applications, process automation tools and the integration of thirdparty and business applications, To identify problem areas and pain points in use cases, create strategic alignment and define actionable roadmaps.
Results
In Germany Awara IT has already started Microsoft Dynamics 365 BC integration with the Enapter robotized warehouse that are equipped with robo-cars that ensure goods to be placed to the right warehouse sockets. So there will be a total quality control system implemented managed through the one ERP used by the Customer.Other project scope covers logistics, ensuring electrolizers and spare parts supply chain to be in one data/information space. This will let the whole production process to be almost totally automatic, without any human interaction.
- Significant Costs reduction as now purchase process takes x2 less time, that is critical fora manufacture, as this impacts the efficient warehouse management. Before implementation, the process was totally manual (done in excel)
- Financial reports availability that allows the Company to make decisions based on the single source of truth with unified data base.
- Planning process timing reduction from 3 weeks to a couple of hours: Planning and manufacturing cycle is automated that optimize the manufacturing process in perspective of human laborand costs reduction. There is a really complicated manufacturing process of multicores made of thousands of electrolizers that manufacturing process take about 6 months. Before implementation the planning took about 3 weeks as there were many mistakes and error made in the manual process
