Brunel’s Amsterdam HQ uses a Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2017, a transparent, audited and fully compliant solution. Other offices, for example the one in Kazakhstan did use 1C, a local financial software provider for finances and reports created in Russian. This caused low transparency, lack of real time understanding of the business status and eventually led to hours spent to study reports in Excel that were not informative and entirely trustworthy.That is why a decision to shift from 1C to D365 BC was made for the office in Kazakhstan.
- Add Kazakhstan Brunel’s office in one Dynamics ecosystem. Unify accounting and reporting business processes
- Enable transparent and reliable reporting in a clear format. Previously, reports created in Excel were impossible to check. Most of them were created in 1C that did not fit internationally acknowledged standards as well as global Brunel requirements in terms of audit trail, availability in English, familiarity for C level managers.
- Transparent transactions in Dynamics 365
- Language compatibility. As most business transactions and requests are done in Russian in Kazakhstan, a localized D365 BC takes that into account. Internal operations in the system, local tax reporting are done in Russian, meanwhile all reporting for the HQ is done in English for the convenience of the decision makers.

- A challenging Integration with a local Kazakhstan e-invoicing system ESF.gov.kz to ensure accurate tax calculations and track overall company’s status.
- Management reporting integration with Tagetik
- 1C salary calculation solution -> BC integration: HR and Payroll master data formatted in accordance with the Kazakhstani legal requirements are seamlessly transferred to BC for further processing
- Customizations of VAT, CIT and invoices calculation
Great level of digital transformation at Brunel is proved by the fact that Dynamics 365 has easily won 1C, a local ERP provider. Dynamics 365 BC outperformed 1C, which lacked scalability, availability in European languages, audit trail and more.
Results
- Kazakhstan’s office is now fully integrated into Brunel’s global D365 ecosystem. This project has become a first step towards a shift from NAV to Dynamics 365 BC for all Brunel offices. As NAV is no longer supported by the vendor, and the customer had reasonable concerns that at some point the system would just stop operating.
