Microsoft Dynamics 365 helps opening a new Daniel Wellington store in 10 minutes

The Swedish watch brand Daniel Wellington has introduced in its Russian division Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central from Microsoft Azure cloud. This enterprise management system covers all business processes and allows preparing the opening of a new store in 10 minutes. Daniel Wellington has been operating in Russia since 2018 with retail outlets in Moscow, St. Petersburg and Yekaterinburg, as well as an online store. By the time Daniel Wellington was about to launch a new business, it was necessary to automate all work processes in the company’s Russian office. Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, which was already Daniel Wellington’s official ERP system, was introduced to solve this problem. Automation saved resources and allowed the company to prepare the opening of a new store in 10 minutes without unnecessary paperwork as 10 minutes is all the time that is needed for specialists to set up the system. Thanks to Microsoft Dynamics 365, accounting and tax accounting have been optimized, while the submission of VAT reports in xml format has been customized as well as the calculation of profit tax and property tax. The accounting of imported goods has also been automated so that customs declaration data and data on circulation of goods and their sale are now uploaded automatically. In addition,  Daniel Wellington’s work processes have been integrated with Dreamkas terminals in full compliance with state tax policy and Russian laws. A list of products with their names has been uploaded in those terminals, and sales data are directly sent to Business Central as and when required. The system can generate a report with sales analytics for each warehouse, cash desk and store. One of the exceptional aspects of this project is that no changes to the company’s standard ERP system were needed for its implementation. Instead, special extensions were created for all the changes necessary for business. The Awara IT team developed several applications that were installed in Daniel Wellington Russian division without changing the initial system code. Thanks to these applications, there are now more working options, and possible updates are much simpler.

Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central 2019 Release Wave 2 Preview

Microsoft is pleased to announce the availability of the Dynamics 365 Business Central 2019 release wave 2 preview starting from September 4, 2019 for Microsoft customers and partners. You can get access to the preview by creating a new sandbox environment from the Business Central Admin Center. The release itself is coming in October 1, 2019 and will include a wide range of phenomenal enhancements across the Business Central clients, application functionality, platform, and development tools. We also expect the following improvements: Microsoft will continue to enhance the application through our focus on performance in the most used areas. E.g. manage the lifecycle of the customer, the solution, provide support, manage updates, testing, and so on. Migrations to Business Central online Microsoft will also accelerate our investment in speed and productivity features for the modern browser experience, achieving a major milestone in its transformation into a world-class desktop experience for new and expert users alike. Microsoft recommends the following steps on working with preview: Review the new functionality. Try it out, and begin training employees on the new features that are coming. Note that this is being rolled out gradually across the world, so if the option isn’t showing up for you today, please try again tomorrow. Validate your extensions. Awara IT automated Uralkali Trading SIA reporting with Microsoft Dynamics AX

Company profile Uralkali is one of the world’s leading producers and exporters of potassium. The company produces a substantial share of the world’s potassium chloride output and controls its entire production chain from potash ore mining to supplying potassium chloride to consumers worldwide. Uralkali Trading SIA, a subsidiary of Uralkali based in Latvia, commissioned us for an IT project. Background Uralkali Trading SIA (further the “Company”) keeps records of its activities in euros using Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009. The Company’s accounting is done in accordance with Latvian accounting standards, while Uralkali group’s consolidated statements are in rubles and prepared in accordance with IFRS using Oracle HFM. The Company’s financial indicators constitute a significant part of consolidated indicators so the Company’s financial department had to prepare the Company’s reporting in rubles. This was done manually using the group chart of accounts (“reporting form”) in Excel for subsequent data conversion and consolidation at group level. To optimize the data preparation process, we decided to automate the transfer of the Company’s reporting in euros prepared in accordance with Latvian accounting standards to the group chart of accounts and ensure data transfer in rubles from Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009 to Oracle HFM. Results We devised a data generation process to convert the Company’s reporting in the format required by the parent company using multi-level mapping algorithms, as well as various methods to determine exchange rates and generate exchange rate differences for the group’s reporting. As per the new rules in the system, all changes are now made through a records log in Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009 by reflecting all reclassification and corrective entries to conform to the group chart of accounts, and only after this step, data is recorded in reporting indicators for the period. This considerably increases the transparency of received data, and it is also more convenient to work with such data now. Based on our experience in converting local accounting data into IFRS data and automating IFRS reporting for Russian and foreign companies, we proposed an automation methodology that allowed reducing labor costs for completing the reporting form. We also made some comments for a more transparent Latvian accounting so that it is consistent with the automation methodology we used.
